Obituary Of My Uncle Jimmy
Jim Barker of Harlan peacefully passed on May 4, 2013, at
his home. His loving wife, Phyllis Carol Barker, was at his side.
Jim and Phyllis had spent the day with their daughter, Terra
Lee Patton, laughing and enjoying each other’s company, as the three of them
had done throughout Jim’s life.
Jim was born on Sept. 23, 1944, in Rose Lodge. After
graduating from high school in Eddyville, Jim served six years in the U.S. Navy
as a Navy Seabee. He proudly went on three tours of duty in Vietnam and was
nominated for Navy NMCB SEVEN’s Sailor of the Year Award in 1968 for his skills
and abilities.
Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy he married
Phyllis Carol Loveall and became a father to Terra Lee Seal.
Jim spent his working career in the Pacific Northwest as a
heavy equipment operator. He was known as a tireless worker who would not quit
until the job was done right. He made many friends working in the woods, and
always was there to lend a hand.
Jim loved to spend time with his family when he wasn’t
working. Whether it was listening to his daughter Terra sing, or spending time
with his grandkids or helping family members, Jim always was there.
Jim is survived by his wife, Phyllis; daughter and
son-in-law, Terra and Lance Patton, and their children, Ty and wife Rachel
Patton, Spencer Patton and Chase Patton; his mother, Dolores Barker; sisters
and their husbands Betty and Delbert Kessi, Beverly and Gene Hawe, and Margie
Clark; and brother and wife Richard (Bud) and Charlene Barker. Jim has numerous
nieces, nephews and other family members whom he loved very much.
I just wanted to add that I love you very much uncle Jimmy
and I really miss you. I cry everyday knowing that you are not here with me
anymore:(
Love Always, Heather and Family
