High school parent advice

I personally am terrified of going to high school. I am afraid that I am going to get picked on and be one of those kids who sit in the corner at lunch by myself. I don't want to leave the middle school. Its like a second home to me and I love all the staff that works here. They have been here for me since my sixth grade year. They have helped me through everything, and encouraged me to do what I thought I could never accomplish.
Although I have to move on to high school, i asked my parents for a little advice on how to survive high school. a few if the things they said was to always be yourself. If you always be who you are then it causes less drama, less bullying, and you get along with people who have the same interests as you. If you do this, you will make it through high school just fine.
My sister who has graduated from high school told me that I always should ask for help when I need it. It is hard to work on something you don't understand. If you don't ask where you made a mistake or how to do something you will never learn.
My family insists I will do just fine, but right now, I'm not so sure.

School in a perfect world
Call me crazy, but I really like school. I like the fact that we get to learn new things we never knew before and we get to see our friends’ everyday. The best part about school is the staff that works here. They are the nicest people you ever met! On the other hand, I really dislike all the homework teachers give us. They give it to us like we don’t have our own personal life and sport we have to worry about also. If I were in charge school would be so much different.
For one thing, I would take bullying very seriously. I know that our school does take bullying kind of seriously, but not as serious as they could. The protection of kids is very important especially in this generation where kids are off doing things they shouldn’t. No one deserves to be called name, or actually get hit. If I was in charge, the bullies would be handled very carefully, calmly, and also have punishment. School would be a better place without all the bullies and bad people. It would also be a lot safer.
Second, I would make sure that all students had access to teachers whenever they needed them. That might sound like a bad idea, but let me just tell you why I think this. I think this because most kids get bad grades on assignments because they don’t understand a problem or two, so they leave it blank. If students had access to teachers most of the time, we would do better in school because we wouldn’t leave questions blank. When we don’t understand things, we give up.
They third and final thing that I would change is the attitude and language. Both of these things are unacceptable. Kids need to watch what they say and how they day it. The bad language needs to stop. If teachers don’t care what students day, of course they are going to say anything they want, teachers need to give guidance and set a good example, especially the ones who don’t care what they say and how their attitude is towards a staff member, or another student.

Obituary Of My Uncle Jimmy

Jim Barker of Harlan peacefully passed on May 4, 2013, at his home. His loving wife, Phyllis Carol Barker, was at his side.
Jim and Phyllis had spent the day with their daughter, Terra Lee Patton, laughing and enjoying each other’s company, as the three of them had done throughout Jim’s life.
Jim was born on Sept. 23, 1944, in Rose Lodge. After graduating from high school in Eddyville, Jim served six years in the U.S. Navy as a Navy Seabee. He proudly went on three tours of duty in Vietnam and was nominated for Navy NMCB SEVEN’s Sailor of the Year Award in 1968 for his skills and abilities.
Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy he married Phyllis Carol Loveall and became a father to Terra Lee Seal.
Jim spent his working career in the Pacific Northwest as a heavy equipment operator. He was known as a tireless worker who would not quit until the job was done right. He made many friends working in the woods, and always was there to lend a hand.
Jim loved to spend time with his family when he wasn’t working. Whether it was listening to his daughter Terra sing, or spending time with his grandkids or helping family members, Jim always was there.
Jim is survived by his wife, Phyllis; daughter and son-in-law, Terra and Lance Patton, and their children, Ty and wife Rachel Patton, Spencer Patton and Chase Patton; his mother, Dolores Barker; sisters and their husbands Betty and Delbert Kessi, Beverly and Gene Hawe, and Margie Clark; and brother and wife Richard (Bud) and Charlene Barker. Jim has numerous nieces, nephews and other family members whom he loved very much.
I just wanted to add that I love you very much uncle Jimmy and I really miss you. I cry everyday knowing that you are not here with me anymore:(
Love Always, Heather and Family

I Believe...
I believe that everything that happens has a reasoning behind it. Sure, everything doesn't always go our way, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't move on and live our lives to the fullest. Things are meant to change so you can learn to forgive and forget no matter what happens. Things go wrong so we can appreciate them when it turns out right.

Everyday I constantly hear people talking about their problems and how they will never get better, and I will admit I am one of those people. Yes. I complain a lot about things going on in my life, but not to get attention I do it so I can get input from others and let them know how I am feeling. We all have things going on in our lives that we are sad, or angry about, but they will get better. No matter how hard the situation you just have to believe in yourself and push through it.

The last few things i want to say before i rap this up is that i believe in every person no matter if I am friends with them or not. We all struggle and we all have flaws. No one is perfect and we shouldn't try to be like someone else. We need to be our own person. Believe in yourself and believe in others because if you set your mind to it, you can do it.

Sometimes, all you can do is run away and never look back. Leave all the things that hurt you and the people who treat you wrong.

My story about ALS
A few months ago, my uncle Jimmy was diagnosed with ALS. ALS or "Lou Gehrig's Disease" attacks nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord resulting in muscle weakness and atrophy. It doesn't just go away. It is not contagious, but it is fatal. He cant talk very long without being out of breath and it is very hard for him to walk around on his own. There is not a cure or treatment today that stops or reverses ALS, but there is one FDA approved drug that modestly slows the progression of ALS. My family and I are having a rough time dealing with the fact that one day, he may not be with us anymore. For me, I am having a very hard time dealing with it, because to me he is slowly dying from the inside out... I really wish that this disease did not exist!

Other facts you should know about ALS
  •  ALS occurs throughout the world
  • It can strike anyone
  • The treatment for ALS consists of one drug called "Riluzole"
  • About 5,600 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with ALS each year
  • There can be significant costs for medical care
  • The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages about two to five years from the time of diagnosis

My Life...
Have you ever thought your life was falling apart? If you have, you know how I feel. Things aren't going great. My uncle has a rare sickness and it's deadly. He is slowly dying from the inside out. He is constantly losing weight, out of breath, and cant talk much. It is very hard for me to see him like this. I don't tell many people, because I don't want attention. I had to just get things off my chest and tell people why I have been so down lately. It kind of gets tiring telling everyone what is going on so I figured I should just post something so everyone will know whats going on...

Eighth Grade Dessert Dance Theme...
Why do I want Neverland as the theme for my classes dessert dance? I want Neverland as our either grade dessert dance theme because i think that it would be cool to see all the  twinkly lights and  fun decorations. I picture this dance to be filled with things of nature such as; a bunch of sparkly lights all around, trees, and stars on the ceiling. The photo booth would have a bench to sit on and stars dangling down from the ceiling, trees and clouds in the background. It would be amazing! In my opinion,The other two themes are okay, but they aren't exactly what you would picture when you think of a dress up, dessert dance. When I think of a dessert  dance, I think of something formal and pretty. To make this night special for my class, I would contribute my time and effort to make Neverland the best eighth grade dessert dance in the history of the dessert dances. Dont make the wrong choice and vote for something else. So please lean twoard Neverland, and don't ruin it for others by choosing something like zombies, or cats and dogs. Thanks(:

You don't need someone in your life who is always going to put you down, or tell you what to do. Be your own person because in the future, that person will eventually lie to you and leave you in the dust. Depend on yourself to do things for you, and be happy with who you are! Be your own leader(:
